Thursday with Di - Barking town and Abbey Ruins

11:00 Meet up at the coffee area DOWNSTAIRS in the Vicarage Field Shopping Centre, from the Station Parade entrance. Exit from Barking station you will see the shopping centre across the road along to the right.

11:30 after a coffee and a chat we will walk through the centre to the side exit and walk through the town to Barking Abbey to explore the ruins and the St Margaret's Church. There is a tea room in the St Margaret's Centre on site and it may be possible to have a guided tour. We will certainly visit the centre for a cuppa (&cake).

We will return through the town back to the station via a different route and have the option of lunch at The Barking Dog, a Wetherspoons, next to the station.

I took lots of pictures on my reccy and am researching the buildings I photographed, if you grew-up here or know the area please come along and give us the benefit of your local knowledge.

The fee is £5 on the day please change your RSVP if you find you cannot come after all.
