Ann says "I am a cockney as I was born within the sound of bow bells, I lived in Stepney from 1960-1971 among the many characters.

Was educated! (well attend school) in Stepney. Come and share the memories and stories from a person who was there

We will walk along Globe road, turn right into
Alderney Street and Ann will show you
The Green.

Ann will have lots of childhood stories to tell you here...

We will see Grantley Street that has been gentrified.
Continue with Bancroft road running in front of us.

Memories as a child how Ann and others played,
skipping, hopscotch, two balls up the wall & hand stands.

Learn about social issues of the time, first hand from Ann as she recounts her family home and how it was!

Part of the road is the same, part was pulled down in "Slum clearance"
Ann will tell you about "Eddies sweet shop" The "scrap metal yard"
"Woolcotts Diary"
"Jerry's" sweet shop.
Jewish cemetery.

The walk continues with so many anecdotes and historical references which will make this walk particularly personal and interesting.

As we walk towards the square. We pass "Meathy gardens" park. Where
the entrance is the entrance to a church. The church was bombed in the
war, the park created.
We see "Weaver Arms" where many years ago was where the weavers worked
with yarn from the docks and so much more.......

We will end up in a local friendly cafe for traditional Pie &
Mash where the walk ends.

The place is small and I will need to know please who would like lunch as I will reserve the table for us.
