An Historic Walk in Battersea with Historian Paul Sinclair
Once a marshy area where Londoners came to join in all manner of immoral activities, then a park for the Victorian poor and just after the war the site of the funfair for Londoners in the Festival of Britain. The art deco power station built against a cry of environmental protest now risen again with its own tube station contrasts with the Lots Road station on the north side now also to be redeveloped. The historic church lies on the south side with no less than four famous historic graves. All this and the Bhuddist Peace Pagoda too.
Our first stop is at the gates of Battersea Park just by the bridge across the road from the power station if you arrive late and my number is 07815009191.
