The Great Fire of London - lunch, walking tour and drinks with Samuel Pepys
13:00 - 14:00 lunch in the Byward Kitchen and Bar at All Hallows by the Tower, at Tower Hill.
Lunch in the cafe of one of the oldest church buildings in the City of London, home to a genuine Roman pavement, Saxon arch and a fabulous carved font cover by Grinling Gibbons.
14:00 - 15:30
Join me on a walking tour through the City of London, ground zero of the Great Fire of London in September 1666. Along the way, we will hear the story of the Great Fire in the words of those who experienced it first-hand, Samuel Pepys and John Evelyn. Sights include Pudding Lane, the Monument and St. Paul's Cathedral.
15:30 - 17:00
We will finish the walking tour near the Old Bailey, where we will stop for drinks and a chat at the Viaduct Tavern pub.
The nearest stations are Tower Hill on the District and Circle Lines, or, if you are coming in from East London, Tower Gateway DLR Station.
Find me at the cafe in All Hallows by the Tower church, where we will have lunch and introductions in one of the oldest church buildings in London. We will then begin our walking tour and finish near the Old Bailey, where we will have drinks in the Viaduct Tavern.
