Eight Walks Along the River: Paul Sinclair takes a stroll in Twickenham

Eight Walks Along the River: Paul Sinclair takes a stroll in Twickenham

We are meeting at 10.45 and setting off at 11.15.

This walk is a real treat much of it along a quiet stretch of the Thames. We'll see the former home of John Turner, Britain's greatest painter, the exiled Duke of Orleans, Pete Townshend, the mistress of George II, the first Mr Twining and the amazing statues that came to us as an unwanted gift. All this and Eel Pie Island, where the 60s were invented. Optional lunch to follow.

My number is 07815009191 if you are running late and our first stop is Turner's House, Sandycombe Lodge, 40 Sandycoombe Road, Twickenham TW1 2LR.
