Snowdonia Adventure - Tryfan, the Glyders and Snowdon maybe...

A mountain walking adventure that should be accessible for most. We will stay again in the Rocks Hostel in Capel Curig, (www.therockshostel.com) widely regarded as one of the most sought after hostels in Wales. Really impressive accommodation, huge kitchen area and fantastic meeting spaces.

On day 1 we will make our way down Llyn Ogwen and take a route to one of the most impressive peaks in Snowdonia, Tryfan. We will explore the summit and then take a route over to the Glyderau. Things can get a little crowded in the summer but the Tryfan and the Glyders are very special places and will be well worth the effort.

Day 2 could see us looking at an ascent of Snowdon via Pen Y Pas or we could head up to Snowdon via one of the many other paths that are easily accessible. The route we take will be dependent upon the experience and fitness of the group and how we feel after the rigours of the previous day.

On day 3, we will pack our bags, check out of the accommodation and head out to Moel Siabod, just over the road from the hostel. A stunning walk in to the foot of the mountain followed by one of a number of options to the summit. This should take us in to lunchtime where we can grab a bite to eat in the Siabod cafe before making our way home.

Once I know who is committed I will send out a far more detailed itinerary and a full kit list.

This event is likely to be quite challenging and will be unsuitable for those who are unfit or carrying recurring lower limb injuries. Having said that I welcome anybody regardless of experience but you must understand that if at any time you feel you cannot continue with our walk, you will have to make your own way back to the start point, probably unaccompanied.

Whilst the walking will be led by me and my activities will be covered by my insurance policies, I strongly recommend that you take out your own insurance for this trip - www.thebmc.co.uk/insurance.

The cost of the event will be £240. Included are three nights accommodation - room only, at The Rocks in shared rooms (Four people per room), and three days guiding in the locations mentioned.

Not included is travel to and from Capel Curig and meals. The hostel is self catering but there is an exceptional cafe just along the road which is good for meals throughout the day. Evening meals are available from various pubs/restaurants in the area and from Betws Y Coed just down the road.

If you wish to join us for the walking but would like to source your own accommodation, that's fine but please let me know. Strongly recommend that if you do want to take this option, that your accommodation is in or very close to Capel Curig or Betws Y Coed..

To secure your place on this weekend I will need payment in full (£240) NO LATER THAN 10th July please to:

Account Number: 39126168

REFUNDS.

You will not be regarded as ‘attending’ any multi day event until you have paid a deposit or if required, paid in full. If you have paid for an event - either a deposit or have paid in full, I am afraid we cannot refund any monies paid. The event was booked, confirmed and paid for by us on the understanding that a number of people would be attending and that they had all paid or had indicated that they would be paying in full.

You can however, arrange a replacement to take your place. If you do find a replacement it is NOT acceptable for you to sell your space to the person replacing you, for a price exceeding the price you originally paid.

When you have found a replacement simply email confirmation providing the persons contact details – email/mobile phone number/full name. Once that person has paid in full for the event, you will immediately be reimbursed.

IF THE EVENT HAS TO BE CANCELLED OR POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 RELATED MEASURES BEING REIMPOSED, I WILL EITHER ISSUE YOU WITH A FULL REFUND OR IN AGREEMENT WITH YOU, RETAIN YOUR FEE PENDING THE EVENT BEING RESCHEDULED.

Comments How to find us London to Capel Curig via the M40 is about 4 and a half hours driving - strongly recommend car option. Llandudno Junction is the closest mainline station where you can catch a train to Betws Y Coed - I'll collect you from there.
