Thread Title: Prednisone Prescriptions - Getting the Right Dose
Post by: SunnySkies

Hey everyone,
I'm considering getting some prednisone 25 mg for an upcoming flare-up I've been experiencing. It's been recommended to me by my primary care doctor due to allergies that have flared up lately. However, I want to make sure I’m doing the right thing before I get it.
Does anyone here have any advice on where to buy prednisone safely and legally? And are there any side effects or precautions I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi SunnySkies,
First things first, it's important to understand that prednisone is a prescription medication and should only be taken under the guidance of a healthcare provider. Prednisone is a corticosteroid used for various conditions like allergies, autoimmune disorders, and inflammatory diseases.
If you’re prescribed 25 mg by your doctor, then you must obtain it from a licensed pharmacist at a local pharmacy or through a reputable online pharmacy that requires a prescription.
Some common side effects include increased appetite, mood changes, trouble sleeping, and fluid retention. It’s important to follow the dosage instructions closely as misuse can lead to serious health issues.
Do not buy prednisone (or any other medication) from unauthorized sources as they may be counterfeit or contaminated.
Feel free to ask if you have more specific questions!

Hi DocInTheKnow,
Thanks so much for your detailed response. I’ll definitely stick with getting my prescription from a licensed pharmacy and follow all the instructions carefully.
One quick question: What happens if I accidentally take too much prednisone? Is there any immediate action I should take?

Hi SunnySkies,
Accidentally taking too much prednisone can lead to serious health issues. If you or someone else takes an overdose of prednisone, it’s important to seek immediate medical attention.
Symptoms of an overdose can include:
- Severe dizziness
- Vision changes
- Rapid heartbeat
- Difficulty breathing
In the event of an overdose, call your local poison control center (if available) or go directly to an emergency room. It's crucial not to wait for symptoms to worsen before seeking help.
Also, make sure you have a list of all medications and any other health conditions that may affect how prednisone interacts with your body. Always consult with your healthcare provider if you experience unusual side effects.
