DESCRIPTION

I only discovered it because my aunt and cousin live here!

Whilst not an immediately attractive or obvious destination for a ‘day at the seaside’ it does have a small beach and has retained a strong character of its’ own over the centuries, from ancient settlement site through vital defence point and military headquarters to the last rural corner of the borough of Southend. It is also the location for two outdoor artworks for the this years Creative Coast project.

If you are up for an adventure to the far end of the railway line from Fenchurch Street (journey time 1 hour) then this is my plan………

Meet at London, Fenchurch St Station at 10.15 for the 10.34 train.

On arrival we will take a guided wander with my aunt around the local area before adjourning for lunch at a characterful local eatery.

In the afternoon we could either while away some time on the beach and/or take a short hop back on the train to Leigh-on-Sea to mosey around this arty old town and relax by the shore-side cockle sheds before returning to London.

Price: £17.50 per person (payment in advance only please)
Includes: Guiding and MeetUp fees (lunch and train transport are not included).

(I would suggest purchasing an Anytime Return at £21.10 – an Off Peak return is £19.90 but for an extra £1.20 we will have extra flexibility and the ability to break our journey should we wish).

Places are limited to no more than 10 people.
