THE LOST RIVER - DAY OUT WITH BLUE BADGE GUIDE
The Fleet is London's most well-known tributary and we will follow its path from Kings Cross to Blackfriars. Half walk half guided tour , we will pass through one of London's most notorious red-light districts, the venue of Bob Dylan's first UK gig, the spot where Oliver Twist gets his apprenticeship as a pickpocket and the sites of three prisons. At one point we will even be able to hear the Fleet. As this is a slightly longer walk than my usual ones we will stop for coffee halfway and then, of course, lunch afterwards for those who want to continue socialising.
This is quite a long walk (hence the coffee stop in the middle) and there will be some steps to navigate so make sure you're in good shape!
Laurence Summers is a Blue Badge guide and has been guiding tours since 2004, when he began working for one of London's major open top bus companies, which sparked his interest in London's rich history. Since then he has qualified as a Blue Badge guide -it's like a university degree! -and led groups of all sizes, ages and cultures all over London and the UK.
It is imperative that you let me know if you cant come as I will wait till 11am for anyone whose name is on the list
