AN EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE GUIDED EVENING TOUR OF FROGMORE HOUSE

AN EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE GUIDED EVENING TOUR OF FROGMORE HOUSE

Frogmore House has been much in the news recently, playing host to royal wedding parties and becoming neighbour to the Duke & Duchess of Sussex’s new home, Frogmore Cottage.

It is a special place that is rarely open to visitors, however on certain dates in August, small groups are permitted to take a memorable private guided evening tour and I have secured one for us.

The estate was originally bought by George III in 1792 as a gift to his wife, Queen Charlotte. Tucked away in Windsor Castle’s Home Park, Frogmore is also known for its’ beautiful gardens planted with over 4,000 trees and shrubs which remain an enduring attraction to the royal family, the name derives from a preponderance of frogs which have always lived in this low-lying marshy area.

A favourite bolt-hole of Queen Victoria, it remains a secret haven for the Royal Family. George VI and the Queen Mother spent their honeymoon at Frogmore in 1923. It is also where the Queen walks her corgis; where Prince Philip installed the dining room taken from the royal yacht Britannia; where Prince Charles gets his Highgrove mulch, and where Princes Andrew and Edward used it as a secluded playground for their children.

This exclusive tour will be in the company of an expert guide, who will allow us to explore the principal rooms of this favourite royal retreat, still used by The Queen and other members of the Royal Family today. Following the tour, we will enjoy a glass of champagne in the Colonnade Room, overlooking the splendid lake and garden.

Price: £72.50 - this includes an exclusive private guided tour, a guidebook, a glass of champagne and private transfer to and from Frogmore from Datchet station.

We will meet at Datchet station at 17.00 from where our minibus will take us into the private, royal grounds of Home Park (access is permitted for only one vehicle so we must be transported together).

Payment is in advance only and places are limited to 12 people

There will also be the opportunity of continuing the event with supper at ‘The Royal Stag’ in Datchet (almost opposite the station) – please let me know if you would like to also take up this option.
