Inside London Part 3: The Guildhall and surrounding streets

Inside London Part 3: The Guildhall and surrounding streets

The Guildhall has been at the heart of the city's government since medieval times. Said to be where Dick Whittington, London's most famous Lord Mayor threw an IOU for £60,000 from the king Henry V into the fire. The visit includes a chance to hear the story of the oldest elected local government body in the world, of some of London's most important and dramatic executions and to see the oldest remaining part of the building stretching back to Norman times, the Roman amphitheatre and the restored Great Hall. A guided tour of the surrounding streets follows to put the visit in context.

Optional lunch in Cote Bank follows.

We'll meet at 10.45 in St Lawrence Jewry church for coffee, only £1 a cup! The tour starts at 11.15.
