VISIT TO THE AGA KHAN CENTRE, KINGS CROSS & A FOODIE TOUR OF COALS DROP YARD
The nine-storey building is arranged around a central atrium and the six gardens and terraces inspired by Islamic communities around the world, including those in North Africa, Spain, the Middle East, Iran and India are a unique feature and a sight to behold.
When opening the building in 2018 the Aga Khan said:
"This place [King's Cross] has been shaped by many diverse influences – and among them we now welcome the rich traditions of Islamic architecture.
One of those traditions– one that is appreciated by both the Islamic and the British cultures – is the special importance of the garden.
We see the garden not merely as an adjunct to other constructions, but as a privileged space unto itself."
Let us take a look at this unique space for ourselves on an hour-long private guided tour into the inner sanctum of the centre.
After the visit we will take a short walk to explore another exciting urban development, now one of London’s top foodie destinations – Coal Drops Yard.
Cost: £11.50 payable in advance only (includes a private tour of the Aga Khan Centre, walk & MeetUp fee)
Places are limited to 8 people.
Meet at 14.30 outside Kings Cross Underground Station
