Tastes of Asia. Taiwanese lunch at Din Tai Fung, Covent Garden

Asian cuisine offers the most diverse, exciting, healthy and tasty food on the planet. I am fortunate to have lived in Singapore and travelled throughout Asia enjoying the local food. Now that I have returned to London, my home town, I am on a mission to locate restaurants that serve true Asian food; seeking out places which recreate the authentic tastes of that fascinating continent.

With the easing of lockdown and in response to the Chancellor's call to "eat out to help out", I have restarted the Taste of Asia lunch series.

So far we have enjoyed delicious Vietnamese food at Saigon Saigon in Hammersmith and the bold tastes of Malay cuisine at Tukdin in Bayswater.

Our next restaurant is the new London branch of the renowned Taiwanese restaurant Din Tai Fung. When it opened last year, Asian students would queue for hours to sample their classic xiao long bao dumplins. Fortunately, the management will now accept reservations, so we have booked for twelve people at three tables of four.

Din Tai Fung is located at 5-6 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden, WC2E 8PS. That's close to the Covent Garden Market and St. Paul's Church, Covent Garden.

There event fee is £5 which is payable upon arrival. Plus, of course, the cost of the meal itself which you will pay directly to the restaurant.

After lunch we might like to take a stroll across Trafalgar Square and through St James's Park. Possibly stopping for a drink at one of the pubs near Victoria.
