Fun workshop on importance of Memoirs for Social History

Details

11.00 - 11.30 Socialise over coffee in our own room downstairs...

Your Story: A workshop on the Importance of Memoirs for Social History “We are not makers of history. We are made by history.”
Martin Luther King, Jr. The history of text books and academic study is the account of kings, queens, politicians, generals, businessmen (yes, usually men)… the story of the movers and shakers of the ages. Yet the human story is also the story of us all.

11.45 - 13.00 ish - discussion with Tony on our own memoirs and so much more....

A king has no realm without his subjects, a commander has no army without his infantry, a CEO has no business empire without her factory workers. And it is the subjects, soldiers and the workers who see it happen, who make it happen. Our story – your story – is the story of our collective history, and it matters. This workshop will be lead by biographer/researcher/editor/publisher Dr Tony Gray.

Tony will encourage participants, thats us, to explore the rich social history of the group. We will see how to record our own stories in a variety of ways, and discover our important role in capturing a collective memory, noting how our lives are both shaped by and will in turn shape history.

Join us for an entertaining day out with a difference...
