DESCRIPTION

In his presentation, Doug will explain the background of the "Pilgrim Fathers" and the reasons for their historic voyage.

It was a process littered with difficulties and disappointments, which didn´t end when they reached the shores of New England. Despite all this, the colony eventually thrived and their story became part of the founding myth of the USA. However, as I´ll explain, they weren´t the first colonists and they didn´t celebrate the first Thanksgiving meal. Their survival owed a lot to English-speaking Native Americans and to beavers! As usual, the reality is rather more interesting than the myth, as I hope you´ll discover.

If you arrive at 19.00, we can start promptly at 19.05. There will be an opportunity to ask questions after Doug's talk.
