A SHORT BREAK IN SHEFFIELD - THE ‘OUTDOOR CITY’ with Lits

Details

Whatever your pre-conceptions of Sheffield are, they are probably out of date….!?!

Once known as the industrial ‘Steel City’, famous for its’ cutlery (and snooker finals!), the metal works have long gone and the City has shown its cutting edge (pun intended) – vibrant and buzzing with a wealth of wonderful architecture, art galleries, gardens and alternative culture.
It is also the greenest city in Europe with trees out-numbering humans three to one and the only city in the UK to have a national park within its city limits making it a perfect launching pad to explore the beautiful Peak District, a mere stone’s throw away.

I suggest we enjoy a combination of exploring both the city and outdoors. No need for a car as there is an excellent tram system and a local train will whizz us into the national park within half an hour.

My plan is to arrive in Sheffield on Tuesday afternoon and check-in to our hotel. I have enlisted the services of a local guide to help us discover ‘his’ happening city, the tour culminating at the old cutlery works now re-invented as an atmospheric food hall of high-quality specialist stalls where we will choose our supper to share together.

The next day we will hop on a train into the heart of the Peak District for a leisurely, scenic walk around the Dales, stopping at a couple of inviting local hostelries along the way before returning to enjoy either a free evening or perhaps join me for the show at the lovely Lyceum theatre - all on our doorstep in the centre of the city.

After checking out on Thursday morning I would advise leaving our bags until later in order to give us more time to explore this exciting city.

Cost: £295.00 per person

A deposit of £40 is payable to hold your space - refundable only if the tour does not take place.

The price includes: 2 nights bed and continental breakfast, single occupancy in a centrally located 3 star hotel. Hosted daily excursions, guided tours, public transport tickets in Sheffield.
(Return travel, meals, drinks & insurance are not included).

This trip is designed specifically for a small group (8/10 people)

Please let me know if you are thinking of coming to Sheffield by train and I will meet and guide you from the station.

If you fancy joining me for this Yorkshire adventure then please RSVP and message/email me asap and I will be back to you soonest with further details.
