London Waterloo to Crewkerne DEPT. 10.20 ARR. CREWKERNE 12.48   (UNDER £30 W/O RAILCARD) 

THURSDAY 21ST OCTOBER
CREWKERNE TO LONDON WATERLOO 15:19       17:56    EVERY HOUR

TAXI TO THE HOTEL COMPLEX - THE OLD MILL:
The original buildings date back many centuries and are of great local interest with a history stretching back to the times of William the Conqueror and are reportedly mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
The Georgian Mill owner’s house & adjacent cottages have been transformed into a luxuriously appointed 21-bedroom hotel all with High Speed Wi-Fi Internet connection. All rooms are en-suite and are exquisitely appointed to add that little touch of luxury to the beautiful surroundings.
The original Mill buildings have been sympathetically converted to a stylish restaurant and underneath can be found a traditional local’s bar with flag stone floors and oak panelled walls

LUNCH AND TIME TO EXPLORE THE SURROUNDS WHICH INCLUDE A TITHE BARN, STREAM WITH BRIDGES, OLD CARAVANS, CAR COLLECTION AND ANTIQUES YOU WILL WANT TO TAKE HOME WITH YOU!!!!

AFTERNOON STROLL of approximately 3 miles across the meadows and fields to a quaint village and back.

DAY 2 - TUESDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER
AFTER A FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST, DAY OUT.

MONTACUTE HOUSE AND GARDENS (NATIONAL TRUST)

 

The day out will include a circular walk of about 4 miles for those who would like. THE VILLAGE OF MONTACUTE HAS PUBS and STUNNING ARCHITECTURE.

DAY 3 - WEDNESDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER
AFTER A FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST, DAY OUT.

LYTES CARY MANOR (NATIONAL TRUST)

The gardens are simple and yet delightful with a variety of little gardens and hide holes….so make sure you see them all.
The house is so very cosy and part of the owner’s request was, that the National Trust leave it exactly as it was for everyone to enjoy.

Outside the grounds are 3 walks that are interconnected, so you can do either 1, both or all 3 
They are excellently marked and flat to walk.
The white walk is only 1 mile and within  woodlands; the red walk is 1 1/2 miles and around the estate and the yellow walk, my favourite, is 1 1/2 miles only and follows a river, around the estate and back to the house.

Afternoon tour of a Cider Farm with tastings....and afternoon tea later - included

DAY 4 - THURSDAY 21ST OCTOBER
AFTER A FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST, DAY OUT.
WE’LL TAKE THE SUITCASES WITH US AND LEAVE FROM SHERBORNE, 10 MINUTES NEARER TO LONDON ON THE SAME LINE

Sherborne is without doubt, one of the most beautiful towns in England.
Medieval and mellow-stoned, this Dorset gem has a reputation for art, antiques and world famous schools.
Fascinating history
Abundance of ancient and beautiful buildings, superb Abbey, picturesque Almshouse and two Castles (one built by Sir Walter Raleigh) which is ENGLISH HERITAGE
