AN ADVENTURE IN SICILY - SUN, SEA, SITES, BOATS, ISLANDS, GELATO, PIZZA & WINE

AN ADVENTURE IN SICILY - SUN, SEA, SITES, BOATS, ISLANDS, GELATO, PIZZA & WINE

Let's enjoy a mini-cruise, sight-see the most scenic sites and, of course, sup and sip on Sicily's famous cuisine and fine wines.

We will stay four nights in Trapani, a charming city rich in art and history with its’ stunning Gothic, Renaissance & Baroque buildings. This ancient port, known as the ‘City of Two Seas’ is set on a peninsula of land surrounded by the sea on both sides.

Different from the rest of Sicily, the northwest of the island has always been off the beaten track, being closer to Tunisia than Europe.

This is the spot if you would like to experience all that Sicily is famous for whilst avoiding the crowds!

Sunday 22nd September
On arrival at Palermo airport we will be transferred directly to check into our accommodation in Trapani before enjoying a tasting of Sicilian wine combined with local food.
Later in the afternoon we will have a guided tour of the old Moorish town through its’ maze of narrow streets to discover ancient churches, magnificent buildings and the scenic path along the coastline.
Evening at leisure.

Monday 23rd September
After breakfast we will walk the short distance to the harbour to board our sailing boat (a ‘caicco’) for an amazing minicruise to the Aegadian islands. We will enjoy a couple of hours on Favignana before returning for lunch on board and a tour of the coast, stopping at the best inlets of the island. After lunch we will visit a small fishing village on Levanzo for a while before returning to Trapani. Evening at leisure.

Tuesday 24th September
We will board our bus after breakfast for the short journey to the medieval hilltown of Erice, a true historical gem and once an ancient sacred, fortified city. We will have a guided tour around the tangle of streets admiring the castles and churches. Its’ magnificent elevated location at the top of Mount Erice also affords breathtaking views over the harbour of Trapani and along the coastline. We will enjoy lunch together and a little free time before returning to Trapani for an evening at leisure.

Wednesday 25th September
After breakfast our bus will drive along the south west coastline to the Stagnone Lagoon, a marine area famous for its’ salt pans, windmills and wild birds. On arrival we will take a short boat ride to the island of Mozia for a guided tour of the famous Phoenician archaeological site.
On our way back we will stop at Baglio Soria Wine Resort for a tasting of six different wines combined with food before returning to Trapani later afternoon. In the evening we will dine together on delicious pizza & top gelato.
