3 day weekend - Folkestone and Sandwich with Dee - incl. concert in the Grand

Details of the trip

Saturday 16th March
Arrive by train at Folkestone at anytime that suits you and walk the 15 minutes through the beautiful Kingsnorth Gardens to the 4* Burlington hotel over-looking the sea.

I'll meet everyone in the hotel foyer at 15.00 for a stroll along the sea into town and on to an interesting place for supper together!!

Sunday 17th March:
Hearty breakfast
11.00 Paul, local historian will take you on a stroll from Folkestone to Sandgate pointing out various interesting bits on famous writers who lived in Folkestone. (HG Wells, Bernard Shaw, Arnold Bennett, Ford Maddox Ford and more.....)

14.00 - 17.00 Mermaid Concert in the glorious Grand - Green Room
Stroll back to the hotel a few minutes away......
18.00 Pre supper cocktails together.
18.45 Supper in the hotel
20.00 Fun games with Anne....

Monday 18th March
Hearty breakfast
Leave bags in hotel .
Depending on the weather, get on a bus for a scenic ride to Canterbury...
The cathedral is superlative and needs at least 2 hours to visit properly.

By good weather, I will take us to Sandwich by train, a stunning small town steeped in history and to think it was once on the sea!! Lovely walks around the old town walls and along the river. The town is beautiful and we'll enjoy lunch together in an ancient restaurant.

Return from Folkestone Central station on the 17.08, 17.34 via London Bridge or 17.52 on the fast train to St Pancras or have an open return and leave when you fancy!

£169 per person sharing a twin or double
£259 per person twin/double - single occupancy
£279 per person for a superior double/twin
Non refundable deposit of £50 (unless the holiday cannot go ahead)
