Brecon Beacons Night Sky Safari

Brecon Beacons Night Sky Safari

Arriving at our accommodation on Friday evening and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat whilst we make firm our plans for Saturday. On Saturday morning we’ll take the short drive to our start point and walk across to Bannau Sir Gaer. We will negotiate our way to Llyn Y Fan Fach and Llyn Y Fan Fawr. The countryside is extremely wild with little to obstruct your view. It is highly unlikely that we will meet any other walkers, our companions are far more likely to be hill ponies, red kites and hen harriers.
I’ll spare you the cut and paste from Slikipedia that is usually posted about these locations. Suffice to say they are eerily beautiful, steeped in folklore and local legend. We wil be venturing into what was once the stronghold of the Myddfai witches who were developing remedies and cures for ailments from local herbs back in the dark ages, the recipes for which are gaining 21st century recognition as being absolutely credible and effective.
We will then walk back to our start point along the foot of a huge escarpment on top of one of the few glacial moraines remaining in the UK, taking in stunning views of ancient waterfalls along the way.
Another night in our accommodation will allow us to rest and recover from what will have been a significant walk in the hills.

The following morning we will head off to the waterfall walks above Pontneddfechan, around 20 minutes drive away.
A gentle stroll along a wooded valley amongst dozens of stunning cascades culminating in a walk behind - yes behind, a waterfall. The waterfall walk is fairly gentle by comparison to the previous day, and should take two to three hours and then we depart for our journeys home. This walk is definitely one for the camera fiends amongst you. Simply stunning views of this country at its best.

This is a WALKING weekend in some of the most dramatic and scenic countryside England and Wales have to offer. If you are unsure of your fitness for the event or have any other concerns about whether this event might be appropriate for you, please get in touch.
