his is an interesting walk and one of my most popular ones with lots to see., and it is advisable to wear boots as some of the paths we are walking on can get muddy.

We will do the usual, stop for coffees, pubs and loos!, and there will be time given to take photographs.

We walk to Finsbury Park designed and built during the early part of the second quarter of the 19th century, following developments in Paris as Londoners began to demand the creation of open spaces as an antidote to the ever-increasing urbanisation of London. Originally to be named Albert after guess who, the first plans were drawn up in 1850.

Renamed Finsbury Park, after the area where the 19th century benefactors who created it lived.

We will be stopping in Clissold Park Stoke Newington for lunch where there is a café there or you can bring your own sandwiches.

We pass along the river Lea and into the Hackney Marshes where many years ago the river formed a natural boundary, so in 527 AD it formed the boundary between the Saxon kingdoms of Essex and Middlesex In the 9th century, it formed a part of the Danelaw boundary and reputedly, Kind Alfed stranded an invading Viking fleet here in 895 AD. This was achieved by draining the river where it met the Thames but the increased drainage affected river navigability, until it was restored in the 17th century.

Distance is approximately 9 miles

If you walk slow, or have a knee problem this walk is not for you.

Please note,

We will be following COV'D 19 procedures, so please ensure you have a mask and hand gel with you, and if you are feeling unwell do not turn up.
Social distancing will be on this walk.

Please advise me at least 24 hrs before, so some one else can take your place.

Failure not do this when signing up again you will be moved to not going.
