A Lovely Day Out With Linda: Let's All Go Down the Strand!

A Lovely Day Out With Linda: Let's All Go Down the Strand!

This is a new walk by an historian and guide who loves London and its surrounding counties (Middlesex, Surrey, Kent and Essex) and who hopes to explore this fascinating area with you!

How many times have you walked up and down the Strand? Perhaps arriving at Charing Cross station to go to the theatre at the Adelphi or to skate at Somerset House, or maybe you’re the kind of person who dines at the Savoy? But have you ever wondered how all those places (and more) got their names? If you want to find out, join me on this history walk. We’ll visit the sites of ancient villages, of noble palaces and a slum or two and explore many a narrow alleyway. And there’ll be tales too: of a rampaging elephant, a bone-setter’s clinic and even a murder. Lunch will be in a suitably atmospheric pub as will our well-earned final drink at the end of the day. So let’s all go down the Strand (bananas optional!).

The pace is easy but please be aware that there are some relatively steep slopes and steps from the Strand to the river.

Fee £10, payable on the day.

My ’phone number is: 07962591558.

After booking, If you find you are subsequently unable to attend, please amend your RSVP so that someone else can join the walk.
