A history of Clerkenwell through the ages
Clerkenwell was also the location of three prisons and notorious for an attempted prison break which killed many people in nearby houses. The area also became popular with political figures such as Oliver Cromwell in the 17th century and the communists in the early 20th century.
We will be looking at the area’s fascinating history along with the people who lived here through the ages.
