Join me for a picturesque walk incorporating Grade II listed buildings and places of natural beauty. Starting along one of the most attractive stretches of the Thames Path, on the way we will pass Grand Historical Houses and walk to Grade II listed Ham House. Our walk will take us through Grade II listed Ham Avenues and onto Ham Common conservation area, where we will stop at a Grade II listed Inn for lunch, and then proceed through Ham Common Woods Conservation area to beautiful Richmond Park. The walk will end at Norbiton Station.

THE ROUTE
After refreshment near Richmond Station, we will commence to the Thames Path passing Petersham Meadows where the Belted Heritage Cows graze. Following the river we will soon see Marble Hill (1729) Grade II listed House across the river and the Grade II listed (1610) Ham House. Set in formal gardens, Ham House was the creation of an enterprising Courtier and friend of Charles I, William Murray and his daughter Elizabeth.

Following on from Ham House, our walk, we will proceed along the historic interlocking network of Ham Avenues, Grade II listed by English Heritage. The beautiful Avenues have been comprehensively restored and mainly consist of Lime Tilia Trees as well as being a haven for wildlife.

Ham Common connects with Ham Avenues and is designated a local Nature Reserve, and Conservation area. It is an area of ecological, historical and recreational interest. The village pond attracts many species of bird-life. As well as having a number of notable building around the common. We will lunch on the common at the New Inn, opened originally in (1756), also Grade II listed.

After lunch the walk will commence to conservation area Ham Common Woods, which extend to Ham Gate Richmond Park. Here two Cedar Trees were planted, to mark King George Vs Coronation in 1911. Next to Ham Gate on entering Richmond Park, stands the Grade II listed Park Gate Lodge dated (1742).

In the final leg of the walk we will observe the beautiful views of Surrey and pass Princess Alexandra's Grade II listed, Thatched House Lodge (1673) before reaching Kingston Gate. The walk will finish at Norbiton Station.
