NEW! A City built by Wren with Blue Badge guide Laurence Summers

Meet 11-11.15 Liberty Bounds pub, 15 Trinity Square, EC3 - closest tube Tower Hill

Fee £10

There is spot in London where you can stand and see four of Christopher Wren's churches in the surround and we will do this.......

Possibly the greatest British architect of all time, Wren began his career of note with the success in 1664 of the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford (too far for us on this particular walk!), before making his name his name after the Great Fire of London , redesigning 50 churches and several livery halls , among which was his masterpiece St Paul's Cathedral - he is really the man who rebuilt the City of London.

But what else do we know of him? Well, his initial designs for St Paul's were rejected, there were conspiracy theories that he was responsible for the Great Fire as a way of making a name for himself and he once got his daughter to lie under a church spire to prove his confidence in it!

On this walk, you will realise just how much he made his mark in the City, as we trot along seeing his work at times, literally every few steps………….
