The London Mithraum { Near Cannon ST Station } to Greenwich via The Monument

This is a new walk, and well worth doing.

We will meet at The Sir John Hawkshaw {as shown below } which on the forecourt at Cannon St Station at 10.30 am for a hot drink.

After our hot drink at 11 am, we will go visit the London Mithraeum

{Situated on the site of Bloomberg’s new European headquarters, this cultural hub showcases the ancient temple, a selection of the remarkable Roman artefacts found during the recent excavation, and a series of contemporary art commissions responding to one of the UK’s most significant archaeological sites.}

After our visit to The London Mithraeum, we will make our way to The Monument which has 311 steps to climb and is worth doing, as the views at the top are amazing. The cost is Over 60's £.4.50, Under 60 £6.

{ The Monument stands at the junction of Monument Street and Fish Street Hill in the City of London. It was built between 1671 and 1677 to commemorate the Great Fire of London and to celebrate the rebuilding of the City.}

For those that do not want to come up the monument, there are many places you can go for a coffee. and you can meet us afterwards.}

After we have been to the monument we will resume our walk, crossing over Tower Bridge and following the Thames Path to Rotherhithe and the pub The Salt Quay for lunch {please advise if you want lunch, as this needs to be booked} or bring our own.

{If you want to leave after lunch, Rotherhithe Overground is less than 10 minutes away.}

After lunch we will follow The Thames Path to Greenwich, and have a drink in one of the many pubs there.

If you have a knee problem or walk slow this meet up is definitely not for you.

COV'D 19 regulations will apply so please bring along a mask, and hand sanitiser with you.
