Greenwich & Deptford naval history along the Thames ending in Southwark Park

Greenwich & Deptford naval history along the Thames ending in Southwark Park

Come along with me, on a lovely river walk with a local history guide, where you will find out about the Naval history along the Thames. Deptford or Deep Ford (as it was called back in the day) is rife with lovely old buildings including the Vitualling yard visted by Queen Victoria.
The statue of Peter the Great and the former home of Diarist, John Evelyn. Samuel Pepys also has connections with the area, having had an important political career in Deptford.
(please note, if you wish to have breakfast first, at the Wetherspoons, please come along at 10.30, if not 11am for coffee (leaving at 11.15).)

We will pass through Greenland Dock, which is a very attractive Marina and have a light lunch or cake and coffee at the Docklands Settlement, which is a lovely spacious cafe run by young adults from Bosco college.

From there we will make our way to Southwark park, for a short stroll through the Ada Salter gardens and then we will end the walk at Bermondsey tube station (jubilee line).

How to find us

We will be inside the pub, which is next to the Cutty Sark DLR, where there will be a meet up sign
