Seven Hills of Croydon, East Croydon to New Addington

This is a new walk.

Who would have thought, that Croydon has seven hills, just like Rome! If you don’t believe me, join me and Sonja to explore a new walk - ‘Seven Hills of Croydon’.

This 7-mile walk starts at East Croydon and ends at New Addington.

After leaving the Manhattan-inspired centre of Croydon behind us, we will spend the next few hours walking through woodland and fields, and, of course, up hills.

There is very little street walking. Three of the hills are not taxing at all, the others somewhat challenging. A walking pole, or two, may be useful for this walk.

If you have a knee problem or walk slowly this walk may not be for you.
We will meet at Cafe Nero near East Croydon Station as per map below (this is not the one directly outside East Croydon Station) at 10.45 am, leaving for the walk at 11.15 am

Lunch and toilet stop will be at Coombe Wood Gardens Cafe.

After lunch we will reach the 140 m high Addington Hills viewpoint  with a stunning view: the panoramic skyline stretches from Canary Wharf and London Docklands to the right, across the City, the Shard, the Crystal Palace and Croydon Transmitter masts and the distant hills of North –West London.

In the foreground is central Croydon, and especially the colourful Saffron Tower.

There are many other delightful views on this walk, but this is definitely the highlight.

Where our walk ends you can get the tram back to East Croydon or use local buses.
