There are so many places of interest in a small area here that we will be zigzagging in and out of streets and alleyways at various points so prepare to be dizzy!

Once considered one of the country's largest slums with its rookeries, crooks and dreadfully overcrowded tenement dwellings, the area of St Giles today - we're talking those streets in and around Covent Garden and Charing X Road - is one of the trendiest, buzziest neighbourhoods with prices in the shops and cafes to match!

Here we have Seven Dials, a street full of listed buildings and one of London's best fish and chip shops (in my opinion), a beer flood, a Victorian umbrella shop, a long-distance literary love affair, a pub where some took their last drink (allegedly), a school of art known as much for the notoriety of musicians as its artists and the famous theatre owned by Brian Epstein , manager of the Beatles , whose band never actually played there! (Sergeant Pepper, however, was performed there but not by the Beatles....).

There's also a church with a grisly warning, a restaurant its loyal customers wish to cling to and one of London's most hidden and sublimely tranquil spots.

Lots of fascinating , surprising and wild stories on this one!
