The 3 basins - Limehouse Shadwell and Wapping, with local history talk.

Hosted by Paul Mob 07530 675739 - Come with me for a day of culture, places of interest and just a really nice stroll in a very unique part of London.

We will meet at Canary Wharf ,All Bar One at 11am, for a coffee, where there will be a meet up sign .

A local resident will come along to give a brief talk on the history of the area, as we go along the route.

We will start at 11.30, by walking to Cabot Square and will join the Thames. We will walk to the Limehouse basin, the first of our three. Stroll historic Narrow St which runs parallel to the Thames .

On the South side is a rare example of early Georgian brick terrace. The Grapes public house (formerly the Bunch of Grapes and around 500 years old) was known to the young Charles Dickens (that chap did get about). Whilst walking along the Thames path,

She will point out places of interest, including some lovely old warehouses - used when the docks were up and running. We will then walk along the Shadwell Basin to Tobacco Dock and on to Wapping Basin and St Katherine Docks.

We will walk down Wapping High Street, which is one of the most attractive parts of London. With cobbled streets and beautiful old buildings, including the old Dock Tax offices (which are now beautiful homes to the very rich and famous).

We will stop at the Captain Kydd pub for a late lunch at 2.30pm

We will end with a social at a Historic Pub in Wapping. The £5 fee is payable on the day. Please make a note of this date in your diary if you chose to RSVP.
