Meet High Barnet underground station 11-11.20
Finish on the high street, close to an array of eateries and coffee shops

A walk of astonishing contrasts, Barnet has always been a buzzy shopping area which is hardly surprising as it’s one of the oldest market towns in the country. It’s seen the days of coaching inns, horse fairs and even a battle which changed the course of history.

This is a real hidden London gem, boasting royal (and other celeb ) visits and an area once described by Dickens as a town of pubs.

With its narrow streets , many pubs, coffee outlets and churches, it's almost a tiny version of the City of London

And as for "personalities" who’ve graced its streets they are as diverse as Elizabeth 1, Samuel Pepys, Charles Dickens and Emma Bunton (aka Baby Spice). Want to know where Oliver Twist met the Artful Dodger? I’ll show you!

Fee £14 payable on the day
