Historian Paul Sinclair visits Historic City Villages 4: Spitalfields
From the Hugenots to the Bengali community, hundreds of thousands made their first British home here. No wonder Queen Anne chose to build here finest of her 50 churches here to try to get the new arrivers to turn to the Anglican church. No great surprise that they stuck to their own places of worship. We'll visit these and the only place in the western world to serve all three monotheistic religions. Historic markets, soup kitchens, breweries and street art. It's all still here and the roots are deep in the areas history. Lunch to follow.
