Historic City Villages 5: Bethnal Green with Historian Paul Sinclair

On this walk we'll hear the surprising history of the Museum of Childhood, see one of the few remaining street shrines from WW1 and find out why it has survived, see the grave of the Aboriginal cricketer who died far from home and see the stunning interior of the library in the photograph above. it looks now just as it did then. One of Sir John Soane's few churches, the tragic story behind the Stairway to Heaven memorial and see Mother Kelly's Doorstep.

We meet at 1pm in the cafe in the museum. We set off at 1.30.

If you see unpaid by your name, just ignore it. No one else can see it and we have no control over it.

The first stop is on the green at the side of the museum.
