Holborn Viaduct: Follow the steps of Thomas Chatterton
Thomas Chatterton now seen as the father of the Romantic movement but barely known in his lifetime walked each day from his room in Holborn to the coffee houses of Paternoster Square where he claimed to be meeting all the geniuses. Find out his true story and the points of interest along the route. We'll visit Hockley in the Hole where Dickens set Fagan's lair and where the vicar needed a police escort, the site of Mother Clapp's Molly House where 18th century gay men lived out their fantasies of marriage and giving birth. We visit two historic churches, one by Wren and one where the residents got tired of waiting for him. Newgate prison, Temple Bar, where table tennis was invented and hear the story of Titus Oates.
My number is 07815009191 and the first stop is by Chancery Lane tube.
