Eight Walks Along the River: Passport to Pimlico with Paul Sinclair
Great Georgian estates, great post war estates, the school the brutalists wanted to save, Dolphin Square, what didn't go on here? The statue to William Huskisson, why is he in a toga? Prisoners of Millbank or POMs going to Australia and the man who brought gardening to the UK. All this and a hint of Westminster Abbey and the myth of the burghers of Calais.
We meet in the Tachbrook Cafe, Tachbrook Street SW1, a stone's throw from Pimlico tube at 10.45 for tea and set off at 11.15. Our first stop is Pimlico Academy and we finish about two hours later at the Houses of Parliament.
Optional lunch to follow.
